Top 5 credit cards for beginners

    Forum Description

If you’re looking for a credit card, you might be getting overwhelmed with all the choices available to you.

A good credit card could help improve your score and save you money in the long-term.

In this post, you will uncover the top 5 credit cards for beginners so you can establish good credit and get better terms from your lenders.

Card #1: Discover it® Secured Credit Card

Discover it® Secured Credit Card asks for at least a $200 refundable deposit. In exchange, they will help you establish credit by reporting to the major credit bureaus.

This card offers a refundable deposit, 22.99% variable APR, no annual fees and a quarterly 2% cash back option on purchases from restaurants and gas stations. You’ll get 1% cash back on everything else.

Plus, they’ll even match the cash back reward at the end of your first year with them.

Card #2: Capital One® Platinum Credit Card

You don’t need much credit history to apply for the Capital One® Platinum Credit Card. This card has no annual fee and a 26.99% variable APR.

The only drawback to the Capital One® Platinum card is that it does not offer rewards. However, this card could be an asset to anyone wanting to establish credit.

    Card #3: OpenSky® Secured Visa® Credit Card

OpenSky® Secured Visa® Credit Card does not check credit when you apply, so if you only have an income, you’re likely to get approved.

This card requires a refundable deposit of at least $200 and has a $35 annual fee. Your credit limit is set at the exact amount of your deposit.

Card #4: Journey® Student Rewards from Capital One®

If you’re a student, the Journey® Student Rewards card will help you build your credit. They don’t require much credit history, making it the ideal card for the student who wants to build a solid record.

This card has a 26.99% variable APR, but if you pay your balance in full during the grace period, you won’t be charged interest.

It offers unlimited 1% cash back on every purchase, no annual fee and no foreign transaction fees for travel abroad.

Card #5: Capital One® QuicksilverOne® Cash Rewards Credit Card

Capital One® QuicksilverOne® offers great rewards to people with no credit. It gives 1.5% cash back on all purchases, which is generous for a beginning credit card.

QuicksilverOne charges a $39 annual fee, but you can make up for this if you charge at least $2,600 per year to your card. This card has a 26.99% variable APR.
